It no secret, I love a microphone and a stage. Some may say I love the sound of my voice; however, for me, it’s storytelling.
I’ve lived a lot of lives in my near 43 years on this planet. For the first 37, I operated at 100% 24/7, and I’ve seen what work addiction in a capitalist world can do to your mind, body, and soul. My story highlights the importance of work-life balance, community, mental health, and the challenges that the modern world puts in our way.
My goal is to empower folks to take their health work-life balance seriously while inspiring them to be the change they want to see in the world, driving change at a grassroots level so we can build a better world for everyone, not just the 1% .
My experience to date has seen me predominantly work with, coach, and mentor women and non binary folks within the corporate landscape all across the globe--from home in Australia and abroad in India, Turkey, South Africa, America, China, and many more.
These experiences in vastly different cultures and environments have given me the ambition to empower womxn in this world to see more representation of womxn in positions of power, fighting the patriarchy, and building a more compassionate world.
As articulated by author bell hooks, the emergence of intersectionality “challenged the notion that “gender” was the primary factor determining a woman’s fate.” The concept of intersectionality illuminates dynamics that have often been overlooked by feminist theory and movements. Racial inequality was largely ignored by first-wave feminism, which was mainly concerned with gaining political equality between white men and white women. Intersectionality does not allow for such oversights.
Keshab Chandra Mandal wrote that female empowerment can be defined in five separate categories: social, educational, economic, political, and psychological.
My goal is to engage the community through local projects, work with local organisations and charities to empower, educate, motivate, and activate our sisters to be the change they want to see in the world.
“Running a business with unhealthy and unhappy employees is like trying to drive a car with a bad engine. It may eventually get you where you want to go, but the trip will be difficult, and you’ll waste time and resources” Sheana Abrahams.
My story and experiences in the corporate world have led me to be extremely passionate about driving a balance and real employee care culture and concern. My story is a prime example of what folks climbing the corporate ladder are experiencing in the toxic survival of the fittest culture, and it needs to be stopped.
With Covid-19 changing the way we work and confirming that 90% of meetings could have been an email, we are in the midst of a cultural revolution. For that to be maintained, we need to review our corporate structures, walk the talk, and embrace community and employee care.
